Great people, delicious food.I am vegetarian and this place offers many options for vegetarian there Veggie grinder is the best sandwich in town. Veggie grinder is not on the menu but you can ask them and they will make one for you.

Famous Bistro serves up food for the soul. “Family” is the key ingredient in every dish. You don’t want to miss it!

My food was a soaking mess of liquid. The pasta was drowning in butter, brocollini sitting in a puddle. The aesthetic was not appealing, the taste, butter. In contrast, my buddy had overcooked, dried up chicken. The server was fine, he tried to make up for it. But the brownie sundae tasted like it was stale, it was very dry and hard.

A cozy atmosphere in the downtown scene. The classic Greek-American menu won't disappoint. I recommend you start off with the Artichoke Dip. The service was well orchestrated. Multiple servers asked if we had been taken care of, the team attitude in customer service was a pleasant surprise. Side note- space is limited so call ahead for reservations.

No handicap accessibility. Only downside to this lovely establishment. Food and service all top notch.

Had a fantastic dinner there tonight. The place was packed, which seemed to be a good indication when I walked in, though it's not very big to begin with. I was greeted quickly and kindly by my server who was very attentive, which doesn't always happen when you dine by yourself. The chicken marsala with pasta and green beans was excellent and the portions were huge. I'm only in town briefly this week for work, but I'd definitely recommend eating here.

The food is great here, and the staff is very accommodating. We had a large party and were there a half hour past close, and they were still fantastic to us.

The atmosphere was very nice and the wait staff were professional. I have worked in fine dining before and I appreciated the small details. We got there before the dinner rush and one of the staff was going from table to table and polishing the silverware.The appetizer was good and was plated with fresh vegetables. The pizza was also good. You could tell that the food was prepared with fresh ingredients.

I always stop here for a gyro when I'm in town. Great food, staff, and service. My favorite spot in Owensboro.

Very attentive staff. Highly recommend the Strawberry Basil lemonade. Refreshing and not overly sweet. The moussaka had a delicious flavor, but the potato wasn't fully cooked making it inedible. Overpriced.

I visited here for lunch with a friend and found a dumpy place in need of several coats of fresh paint, but food and service were pretty good. I tried their Ruben without 1000 Island Dressing (I know, it's not really a Ruben then) and it was very good. My friend got the steak grinder which she also liked. This place will need to kick into higher gear if it's going to keep up with all the new development along the O'Boro riverfront!

Came to town on vacation, glad I found this little spot! Awesome food, good prices, amazing eclectic environment! Menu has a large selection, Greek food, Americana foods, salads, and daily specials. They were even sensitive to my youngest's allergies and made his food separate for us. Service was too notch, friendly, informative, and attentive. We will be back this trip, and every other trip into town! Highly recommend! 10* place

To start I had high expectations. Ultimately the service was good but very slow considering how empty the restaurant was. Took at least 15 minutes to get food ordered and another 25 to get it. I had the bourbon chicken that was overcooked. I feel like for such a large chicken menu that they should be pretty key on something like this. I would try again but it would not be my first choice.

I was in Owensboro for work and noticed the Bistro on the way to Mellow Mushroom from the hotel. Reviews looked great and the place was packed. It was a great dining experience as the food was fantastic and the staff were super friendly and attentive. This dish is the gorgonzola stuffed veal parmesan. It was delicious!

Go there. Order anything. Eat it. Experience euphoria. - Major league food here. Chef is a MONSTER. Staff is so unpretentious and accomodating. LOVE this place.

We were in town for a dental consult from Evansville, so we decided to check out the riverfront afterwards. We then wandered into downtown, where there are several places to grab a bite, and really just randomly chose this Bistro... WOW, the food was out of this world!! Very clean, quaint little restaurant, with an extremely friendly owner and staff!! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!! Silly as it sounds, the only thing I found a little frustrating, was we asked about drink and dinner specials, but because it was 4pm, the owner informed us we were in-between lunch and dinner specials 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe I'm just used to Evansville, where a restaurant has daily specials, not specials that change throughout the day...

This is a very good lunch place. The Hungarian mushroom soup was one if the best soups I have ever tasted! The service was awesome.

A great place has clean bathrooms. An amazing place has clean bathrooms and wonderful food. I ordered a Greek salad and half a Turkey Grinder and it was wonderful. The portions were large and the prices were right for the tasty, satisfying food. Come check out this cute, trendy place.

The Famous Bistro is cozy intimate restaurant with delicious options for lunch & dinner. The Bourbon Glazed Ribeye & Sautéed Brussel Sprouts melt in your mouth. Service is spot on and attentive.

This is the best cafe not only in Owensboro but probably Western Kentucky. Eclectic selection from Italian, Greek to Mediterranean. Filet and prime rib are outstanding. Vegetarian menu as well. Bistro buys meat and produce raised locally and is synthetic hormone and herbicide free. I'm here a couple of times a week.

I don't like open kitchens because I don't want to hear all the clatter and bang while I'm eating. That's the only reason I'm withholding a star. We thought the food was excellent with fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Be sure to ask about their desserts, they're not listed on the lunch menu, and our tiramisu and stuffed brownie choices were AWESOME.

This is the probably best place in downtown Owensboro. First reason is - the food is awesome. Added to that, the people are very very nice and friendly. I loved the ambiance. I was sitting on the bar and could see my food was getting cooked - that does not happen in other places! Plus they have a pretty cool collection of craft beers. Should also mention - the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended if you are at Owensboro.

It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect weather to visit The Famous Bistro for lunch. We sat on the patio, where we were chair back to chair back to other tables. It was uncomfortable to say the least, I was pinned in. Anywho other than that hiccup, our server was delightful, fun and friendly new gal. She made it very light and service was great. Our food was wonderful, but a little short with the Caesar Salad as it was very small for $ 7.99. Other than that it was a great experience and we look forward to trying it again soon.

Watched The famous Bistro on the show Tri State Tasting food looks super!!The only thing wrong was the owner or cook that was fixing the meals HE HAD NO GLOVES ON while fixing the meals!!!

I was there on Saturday 9/14 with four friends. We had a reservation for 8pm. Our waiter was awesome and the food was good. The issue was a large group of people that were there when we arrived. They were so loud we couldn't hear ourselves or our waiter. We tried to move outside but were told all tables were booked. We had not seen each other in awhile and wanted to have conversation with our meal. Impossible. Nothing was said to the obnoxious group of people. Our waiter knew we weren't pleased. This was my first visit and I don't think I will be back.

Superb food! Great ambience with indoor and outdoor seating. Wait staff is knowledgeable of dishes and wine or beer pairings. Everything I have ordered is exceptional! This is also a good place to come and order just an appetizer and drink and catch up with a friend.

Very friendly staff, unique menu for brunch very tasty food it is a great change from the fast food chains and burger joints ! Will be going back again soon !👍
